Issue #8 is guitar tech David Wolff/Def Leppard/Stryper etc!!

Rcl -Q- We at RCL attended a recent Def Leppard show pursuing David and couldn't help but notice the great shape Vivian and Phil are in these days. What are those boys doing health wise and what do you do to stay in shape. Is lifting gear and beers your secret or are you health conscious as well?

1. Vivian and Phil are both vegetarians, and they both work out. Viv plays football (soccer) and Phil kick boxes. My secrets are salads and whiskey

RCL -Q- You have been out with Def Leppard this summer. What is your task in the organization?

2. Vivian’s guitar technician and bartender.

RCL -Q- How great is this band? Major roster of hit songs. Are you having fun mate?

3. How great is the band….go back and look at their past. One of the only bands to make it out of the 80's and still sell-out arenas and stadiums. The hits keep on coming.

RCL -Q- Just exactly what kind of luxury axes are you dealing with every day with these boys from Sheffield?

4. All Les Pauls all the time. Gibson J200 acoustics and J100.

RCL -Q- List some other monster players you have had the pleasure of teching for?

5. Oz Fox, Michael Sweet (Stryper) Richard Kruspe (Rammstein) Dave Navaro (Jane's Addiction) James (Smashing Pumpkins) Lou Graham (Foreigner) KK Downing (Judas Priest)

RCL -Q- A big part of your career has been touring and working for religious rock act STRYPER from the 80's era. Word on the street in those days, was that STRYPER partied and participated in the same debauchery of drugs and chicks as Motley Crue did, and it was all a front. Would you tell us the truth please sir Wolfie?

6. Fine, it's about time. After touring 9 years with them,,,,never saw them party. I am asked this question more often than not. They are a straight-up bunch of guys and fun to work for. They have always stuck to their guns as far as I know.

RCL-Q- What were some of the biggest shows this band performed at and was their audience a lot different than the metal bands such as Cinderella or Poison, or was it a mix of the same fan base?

7.As for the Stryper crowd...seem to be the same basic fan base as the 80's bands but a lot more Christians. As far as the biggest show with Stryper,,,,Disneyworld (100,000 people)and for Def Leppard. Live 8 Philadelphia (1,000,000+ people).

RCL -Q- You are from the Detroit area. How are things in Hockey town, now that hockey is back. Are you a fan?

8. I am from California, but as far as Detroit...I don’t know anything good that has come from there, except for Ted Nugent.

RCL -Q- Did you see Ted Nugent and Bob Seger a lot growing up in Hockey Town?

9. I saw Ted in LA as a kid. I fucking hate BOB SEGER!

RCL -Q- Ok David. Our field team really fucked up the fact you are not from Detroit. I think they were thinking Bobby OD. Anyway..Do you surf at all?

10. That's ok about Detroit. I can slag it off. Ted’s from there and for surfing, ya, when I was a kid. Now I’m fat and old!!

RCL - Q- We love LA at RCL and were located in Long Beach for several years before going back to the Great White North. Take Off Eh!! Do you still hang on the Hollywood strip once and awhile and have you been to a LA Kings game when Wayne Gretzky was playing?

11. It seems the only time I’m down in Hollywood is when I’m working. Not much of a city boy. Spend too much time working in them. They call me a cultured hillbilly out here, because I’ve lived in the mountains most of my life. Don't catch much hockey. Spend a lot of my time doin gig's on the ice.

RCL -Q- What plans are in store for David Wolff in the coming year?
